General Information
1) Insurance
The Organization of the Conference accepts no liability for any personal injury, loss or damage of property belonging or additional expenses incurred to Conference participants either during the Congress or as result of delays, strikes or any other circumstances. Participants are requested to make their own arrangements with respect to health and travel insurance.
2) Travel and visa
Upon request, the Conference Organizer will send you a letter of invitation to obtain a visa. Applications for a letter should be sent to the Conference Organizer ([email protected]) before January 30, 2013. Applications received after that date, will not be dealt with.
3) Wheater
March is a quite attractive season and very green. The climate in March is, generally, mild winter (daily maximum around 15 C), but rain showers should not be ruled out.
4) Currency
The local currency is Euro. Many banks will exchange currency; however, the most convenient way is to use the numerous cash machines available all through the city. Almost all shops and restaurants accept major credit cards.
5) Airport
The Lisbon International airport (Portela) is approximately 5kms away from the city centre of Lisbon.
A bus link connection can be taken in different directions to the city.
AEROBUS & Shuttle Bus: (main exit at Arrivals), every 30 minutes, is the most convenient if you travel along main streets and city centre or Oriente. Tickets may be purchased on board. For further information see at Lisbon Airport Buses.
Taxis are not expensive, drivers normally are friendly; a journey to the centre can cost 10 to 20 Euros (max).
Metro line extension to the airport (red line) is the easiest way to reach the hotels and the city centre. Metro runs from 6.30 a.m. to 1 a.m.
6) The city
Lisbon is a charming town and offers culture, shopping, art and leisure. Ask at your hotel for the monthly magazine "follow me" and enjoy the city.
7) Shopping & Banks
Usual opening hours for shops are:
Shopping Malls & supermarkets are open (seven days a week) from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Post Offices are open (Monday to Friday) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Pharmacies are open (Monday to Friday) from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m .
